He ordered a bourbon and soda, then handed the flight attendant a note: “I have a bomb.”

After landing in Seattle, he exchanged 36 passengers for $200,000 in cash and four parachutes.
At 8:13 p.m., somewhere over the dense forests of Washington, he opened the rear stairs and jumped into the storm.

No confirmed trace was ever found.
The FBI investigation lasted 45 years before it was officially closed in 2016.
The man known as D.B. Cooper remains the only unidentified hijacker in U.S. aviation history.
